The Liberalverse version of Formidable Opponent.

As so often happens with the Liberalverse, this tends towards self-parody. There have been times when I come to a social-justice conversation late, or never make it at all, because I'm too busy running rounds like this in my head.

Now that I think about it, maybe the backgrounds would have worked better as grey and beige. But I like the splash of color in the red-violet and blue-violet.

Just scrolling to the end of the third panel produced an audible squeal of joy. OF COURSE IT IS CALLED BALANCED CONVERSATIONALIST. And then I actually read it and laughed four about five minutes straight because I have conversations like that on the internet ALL THE TIME and it gets so, so old.

BRB, making this required reading in all liberal leaning internet spaces.

I had one of these just the other day. "Wait, isn't that derailing...?" "No! It's not derailing when *I* do it, and furthermore it's derailing of you to bring it up!" (And then they announced that I obviously wasn't listening and so they were ending the conversation, which was honestly kind of nice as it saved me having to come up with a reply.)

With conservative!Stephen, his writers have a sharp eye for detail and their fingers on the pulse of the nation, to be able to process the panicky conservatism around us into quality satire night after night.

With liberal!Stephen, I just try to distill the angsty liberalness that fills my corner of the Internet in the same way. And I have it much easier, since I'm not required to do it on a nightly basis XD
