Daja Kisubo, from Tamora Pierce's Circle of Magic books. For Seagullsong, who described her as "a lesbian mage who can stop forest fires, make living plants out of metal, and basically own everyone when it comes to staff fighting." Again, in honor of International Blog Against Racism Week.
Used [link] for a reference (and to get that pattern in the frame), so this is a young version of her. With a rose made of living copper. Because, seriously, how cool is that?
(Sidenote: I got a tiny plant when I was in New Zealand this past semester, but it had to stay there. This drawing is making me miss it ;_; )
Gah. How do much do I love your work? Sooo much. How long did it take you to do this? It was up really quickly! And, and, it has the Circle of Magic border! And a copper rose!
You really should check out the books. They'll be quite a bit young for you now, but all the characters are awesome. There's a bookworm who can control the weather. ^^
A couple of hours, I think. I'm making my way through some audio stuff, so I do a lot of drawing while I listen. Stuff gets done fast when I decide to be motivated
I am always in favor of bookworms who control the weather!
Daja and Briar were always a tie for favorite for me, I loved both of them dearly while reading the books, that's for sure. Ah, a bit of nostalgia here, I smiled quite a bit when I saw it :3 Living metal, what fun!
I LOVE THIS PICTURE!!! I can't normally find good circle of magic fanart but this is amazing. You got a pretty good grasp on her but to really understand her and her movements you need to read the books. Besides that though you got a very close thing.
