There's not really room for an eight-year digression to California in Stephen's history, so you have to either assume he exaggerated or handwave the dates completely ^_^;

If you want my full Thoughts On Yaoi (literally XD), I wrote extended versions of a couple of possible interpretations of the scene.

What, "Stephen" exaggerate and/or repress memories? Certainly not

"Stephen's" history changes according to the needs of the show, anyway. And I don't think it would be too far-fetched to say they moved from Venice Beach to Patterson Springs after awhile and maybe just vacationed in Sonoma sometimes...

Bah, I just want more fluffy hair and preppy clothes. I have no interest in canon!
