Because Stephen Colbert is a very, very repressed character.

On the left: the part of his brain which in this clip is labeled "Repressed Homosexual Urges." The name is his (hypothetical!) gay porn name. He's kind of a pushy bottom. And, yes, he's eating a baby carrot.

In the center: the idealized pundit image that gets presented to the world, wielding symbols of masculinity, aggression, strength, and faith. Pure white suit; no stains to hide here. The title is a play on the "warrior-poet" used for a while in TCR's opening titles.

And on the right: "Sure, [my parents] could be a little strict, but I often look back fondly on the memories I haven't repressed." The other traits besides sexuality that his upbringing discouraged, traits that he tried to leave behind along with the hard T at the end of his name. Age seven, which in Catholicism is the age from which you are responsible for your own sins.

These are the main face(t)s which come to the fore in State of Grace. There are a couple of others, but...well, you'll see.

Oh, wow. That is incredible. My heart goes out to him, as well. Great job on the symbolism, its amazing how well they can be embodied into red, white and blue, and how different they are. Keep up the awesome art! :D

oh wow. that's awesome! first of all it's drawn really well. that's obvious. but secondly it looks like a lot of thought was put into it. which makes you obsessive and mildly insane. lol, i mean that in a good way though. the use of the red white and blue is genius. also, this is funny... but there is possibly some truthiness to it. this is really cool and impressive. i'm surprised there isn't like 100 favs on it. :+favlove:

"Obsessive and mildly insane" is a good way to put it!

I don't think a lot of people who are looking for Colbert art go to DA. Ah well. Its time will come =)
